The Villas
Our goal with Caballitos del Mar was to build close to the ocean, but not to adversely impact the enjoyment of visitors to the beach. Located at the southern end of Playa Dominical, the villas are surrounded by natural forest with trees up to 100’ tall, which are full of tropical birds, iguanas, and flowering plants. At high tide, it feels and sounds like the ocean is right next door, while at low tide the water recedes for 100 meters, allowing tidepool exploration or a quick walk into town.

The Villas at a Glance
Each of the three, two-story homes offers approximately 2,200 sq. ft. (200 m²) of living space designed for comfort and relaxation.
Key Features of Every Villa:
Immediate Beach Access: Just a 30-second walk to a beautiful, semi-private beach.
Spacious Layout: Three bedrooms and three or four bathrooms.
Essential Amenities: A well-stocked kitchen, private pool, full size washer and dryer, fast Wifi (mesh network)
Comfort: Bedrooms have air-conditioning, large sliding doors, several opening windows. Get lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean, and wake up to birdcalls.
The primary differences between Villa Norte, Central, and Sur are minor variations in decorating and their specific orientation within the lush Wgardens, ensuring that all guests enjoy the same exceptional experience of jungle, ocean, and luxury.
Our Ideal Location
While mountainous terrain has its advocates, our beachfront location ensures easy access via paved roads, meaning no 4x4 vehicle is required to reach your tropical getaway.
Dominical: A scenic 20-minute walk along the beach at most tide levels, offering the charm of a sleepy village with convenient small stores and restaurants. Three minutes by car if you’re shipping.
Uvita: Just 12 minutes south by car for larger supermarkets, specialty shops, and additional restaurants.
Ojochal: Ojochal (oh ho chal) is a relatively small village with two excellent restaurants: Exotica and Citrus. It’s slightly over 3o minutes to drive to Ojochal from our villas, but either restaurant is a culinary delight. We won’t select a favorite, so you pretty much have to go to each during your stay.
In conclusion, at Caballitos del Mar, you get the tranquility of a secluded beach coupled with easy access to the vibrant local culture and conveniences of the Southern Pacific coast.

“This place is beautiful! We stayed here for 10 days with 5 families totaling 21 people. We rented all 3 houses and it worked wonderfully. Each house is pretty much identical right down to the pools. We spent many hours in the pools as well as on the pristine beach just outside the property. The beach is amazing! You can walk all the way to Dominical barefoot, no rocks on the beach just smooth sand and hermit crabs. The grounds are very well kept and the staff are extremely pleasant. Very conveniently located close to a major grocery store and the quaint Dominical. There are waterfalls just minutes away as well as monkeys and birds flying everywhere. Its so lush and green! Since there are three identical homes, Caballitos del Mar allows up to 25 guests at a time. The villas are one km south of Dominical, right on a secluded beach, and owned by the Hutchings and Hawley families.
